A tight, clean, sound copy in textured dark blue paper covered boards with silver lettering and a graphic on the spine with very minor overall shelf wear with the dust jacket mylar sleeve endflaps glued to the front and back fixed endpapers plus there are the usual library stamps and marks on the top outside paper edges, the front and back free endpapers, and the title page. The dust jacket shows no visible signs of wear plus it is still in the original library mylar sleeve. This book is a winner of the A. W. P. Thomas Dunne Books Award. This is the author's first novel. A novel set in 1936 in a small town near Charlottesville, Virginia about the circumstances surrounding the killing of a white sheriff killed by a aging black caretaker and his sister when the officer was trying to turn them off of their land. 261p..
