Book desription: London: Macmillan & Co, 1902. A full-leather bound children's book aimed at boys, dealing with natural history and using 2 fictional characters to help demonstrate in a more interesting way than by just citing facts. It has b&w illustrations here & there which represent the subject in each chapter of this 270-page book. The leather covers are dark blue w/gilt stamping, marbled endpapers & page edges, and raised spine ribs. There is a stamped gilt emblem from King Edward's School stamped on the front cover and a bookplate pasted on the front endpaper which shows that the copy was a prize given to an English student. The spine ends are a bit rubbed & the spine itself a little rubbed. There is slight foxing here & there inside. Overall, a tight, rather attractive copy. OUT OF PRINT.. First Edition. Leather Type.
