Book summary

As a child, Ken Kesey heard the story of the "last go round" at the Pendleton Roundup in 1911, where three cowboys rode for the first world broncobusting prize: George Fletcher, a popular black cowboy; Jackson Sundown, a Nez Perce Indian; and Jonathan E. Lee Spain, a white kid from Tennessee. Kesey, along with Ken Babbs, has turned this legend into a novel that includes characters such as Buffalo Bill Cody, Frank "the Crusher" Gotch, Prairie Rose Henderson, a medicine man named Parson Montanic--as well as 16 pages of photographs from the era.
