The RAF in Camera : Archive Photographs from the Public Records Office and the Ministry of Defenceby Nesbit, Roy Conyers
DescriptionStroud, Glos: Sutton Publishing, 1998. Jacket has tears at bottom of spine and bottom edge of front board, both have been taped. A sizeable archive of photographs, depicting operational and ground activities of the RAF, has remained unrecorded and largely unseen in thousands of documents held at the Public Records Office at Kew. Other equally important images of the RAF can be found in the official archives of the Ministry of Defence in London. This book brings a representative selection of these two collections to a wider audience. Many of the photographs are published for the first time and give the reader a facinating kaleidoscope of images depicting the vast range of offensive, defensive and ground-based operations in which the RAF was involved during the Second World War. This volume covers the period from September 1939 to August 1945, containing over 240 photographs, many taken in action. Each photo has been thoroughly researched and is accompanied by a detailed caption. . Reprinted. Laminated Boards. Very Good/Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. |
