Bound in quarter dark red cloth, yellow paper boards with repeat pattern in dark red by Robert Gibbings; dark red endpapers. 10 wood-engravings of various sizes, including the frontispiece map of T. ahiti and the title-page vignette. "For this impression the wood-engravings were printed lithograpically from good pulls, rather than from the poor impressions found in the earlier printings." "The text was drawn from a volume published by the H. a k luyt Society in 1948, with the addition of extracts from diaries kept by others aboard H.M.S. Dolphin between 19 June and 27 July 1767." Ghost label mark on free front endpaper. Slipcase has minor soiling and rubbing. Very Good+/Very Good.
