Written by Gerasimov, a few years before his death in 1970, tells of his pioneering work in the reconstruction of faces from bare skulls. Most of his work was concerned with the reconstruction of the face of early man , but he also reconstructed busts of early historical personages including Tamerlane and Ivan the Terrible.
