Book summary

Noir blends with hard SF space opera in this standalone novel. A technological disaster has rendered 24th-century Earth incapable of supporting human life. The survivors are split into two warring factions, the Threshers and the Slashers. The key to ending the conflict may lie in the Threshers' new discovery: the location of a wormhole that leads to an alternate version of 1959 Paris, where perennially out-of-work musician/private detective Wendell Floyd investigates a young woman's suspicious fatal fall from a fifth-story balcony.
