Book desription: First edition, original blue cloth with black titles. 343pp plus 6pp rear adverts. Pictorial dw featuring the devil gazing down upon a knight on horseback. The book has some trivial water staining to some of the edges, the endpapers are acid-spotted and rather dirty, the lower text block is foxed. The binding is sturdy, the hinges strong and uncracked, and the interior clean and bright. The dw is in original unrestored state and has a browned spine, some chipping and general wear. The front panel is clean and bright, as are the inner flaps. The spine and rear cover bears most of the wear and chipping. Loosely laid in, a newspaper clipping titled 'Richard III's Skeleton - Reported Discovery' (which has lightly stained the two pages either side). One of Bowen's highly regarded historical dramas which has slight supernatural overtones.
