Book summary
Moreau uses the 1983 truck bombing of a Marine barracks in Beirut as the crux of this novel about a sergeant who enthusiastically wants to prove himself to those who served in Vietnam, but is faced with a corporal who is a college graduate and has a different agenda. Both men must deal with the rules of engagement, which are enforced by a vengeful first sergeant who is seeking a way to court-martial anyone who gets in his way, and ultimately the bombing of the barracks and an ensuing military inquiry.
