Book description: Portland, Oregon: Ronna & Eric Hoffman Gallery of Contemporary Art, Lewis & Clark College, 2003. Very good, with only light handling wear. 2003 Catalogue to accompany the Jan. - March 2004 art exhibition. 6 pages, with color photos. With essay titled 'Morality Tales and Popular Myths' by Linda Brady Tesner. The Biblical story of Lot is the theme of Gerry Snyder's multi-panel oil paintings. The tale of Lot and his family occurs in Genesis and includes the well-known story of Sodom and Gomorrah. But there are other details to the Lot narrative that are not so widely remembered-themes dealing with incest, for example, that challenge traditional social and family values. Snyder's series reads like storyboard vignettes or comic book cells, suggesting a cinematic presentation akin to contemporary filmmaking or television. Formerly the Dean of Academic Affairs at the Pacific Northwest College of Art (Portland), at the time of the exhibition, Snyder was a professor of art and the chair of the Art Department at the College of Santa Fe. His work was featured in the Whitney Biennial in 2002.. First Edition. Stapled Softcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8.5" x 8.5". Ephemera. Biblical story of Lot Paintings.
