Fourby Mitchell, Emerson Blackhorse et al., eds
Santa Fe: Institute of American Indian Arts, 1965 1st, an oblong folio 11.75" x 18", in cloth in shades of orange to red with a leather spine over the cloth spine, and a pasted on illustration. Printed on heavy brown paper like grocery-bag paper, accordion-style with each page folded double. The content is poems and artwork by students at the IAIA, printed entirely by silkscreen. Additionally there are tipped in lino- and woodcuts. Colophon on the rear pastedown reads: "Designers, Editors, Printers: Betty Frazier, David Louis, Emerson Blackhorse Mitchell, Elizabeth Runnels, Evan Stewart, Ermon Dick. Faculty Consultants: Terry Allen, William Witherup, Allen Saubel, Seymour Tubis. Reproduction: Woodcut, Linoleum Cut, Silk Screen. Edition Limited: 100." one full page is a contribution by Mitchell, a recipe for Navajo Corn Ice Cream. "Before you start to prepare corn ice cream, your hands have to be washed with the soap of the yucca plant. This makes the corn sweet with its taste." A beautiful and fascinating rarity. This copy is good plus; It has been damp and the boards are bowed; there is a faint waterstain at the top of some pages.. Hard Cover.
