Crerar Library came from bequest of John Crerar (1827-89), an incorporator of Pullman Palace Car Co., & manufacturer of railroad supplies in Chicago. Library comprises some 1,000,000 volumes on physical, natural, & medical sciences. ||| Present work was first issued 1911; in 1966 there was a Kraus Reprint; both are located at Library of Congress, Yale, & Unv. of Chicago; MIT has the 1911 original only. |
