The Canape Book by Maiden, Rachel Bell
Description
New York: D. Appleton-Century Corporation, 1935. This is a wonderful little book full of art deco illustrations as well as canape ideas. The dust jacket was cut up and part of it is on taped to the front of the yellow binding. This book has such wonderful appetizers as Escargots Faux, Yarmouth Canape, Cochon en Chemise (which looks like pups in a blanket), Fish out of Water, Neptune's Sheep, and many more. This book is fun to read, the ingredients at times no longer exist, and the illustrations are, in general, quite clever. To the left of the title page is a setting sun with the words "Cocktail Hour" printed under it. The binding is heavy, and has a bump on the right bottom corner. All else is fine. 95 pages, no marks or tears. No spatters from cooking!. First Thus. Hard Cover. Near Fine/No Jacket. Illus. by Wakefield, Lucina Smith. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Canapes Cookbook Appetizers Cooking Cocktail Hour.
