First published in Prague in 1714 under the title Disegni Diversi. Plates in this edition use the original copper plates. All 100 plates present, all in very good condition, most with moderate foxing, and soiling. Promptuarium artis argentariae is considered one of the finest collection of plates depicting 18th century silversmithing, with a stunning collection of engravings of the most intricate silverwork. Ex-library with library ownership perforated stamp to copyright page, and ink call number. Plates unaffected, except for one, with has a perforated library stamp to margin, not affecting engraving. One plate heavily foxed to lower right margin, also not affecting engraving. Some plates hand numbered in contemporary ink to corner. Contemporary ink markings to title page, and contemporary inscription to front blank. Rebound in blue library binding cloth. Folio. |
