This set also includes the third volume, in a matching binding, first published in the 1803 second edition. Bound in contemporary full brown calf with decorated gilt stamped spines and board edges. Marbled pages edges and endpapers. Small owner bookplate to front pastedown of each volume. Some rubbing and wear, mostly to edges, and light bumping to corners. Generally, a very tight and clean set. Minstrelsy marked Scott's true literary debut, written and published as a collection of the traditional ballads that Scott had been collecting in yearly trips to the Borders since 1792.
