With a hand written letter by Dickens dated 2 September 1853, unusually signed 'CD' tipped in first volume. Beautiful contemporary red half morocco with raised bands, gilt titles and extra gilt to spines; red cloth boards with gilt rule; top edges gilt; beige end papers. Fully illustrated. A very good set, solid and bright. in the main internally clean, save only for a few, isolated minor marginal tears, a couple of professional repairs and the occasional pencil annotation by a remarkably ardent lover of Mr.Dickens works; made all the more special by the inclusion of the Author's manuscript letter.
