Book Description
London: M. Swinney, for T. Cadel and P. Elmsley, 1776. xcvi, 383 (Vol I); 385-838 (Vol II)pp. 12 Plates, two folding. First use of the Linnean binomial system in the classification of British flora, in the English language. Some pressed plant specimen inclusions throughout. Foxing and staining to plates I and II, Plate II with some edgewear. Vol I with occasional very light foxing. Front board beginning to feel a little loose, some cracking along hinge. Boards with moderate to heavy general wear, with damaged areas at corners and to rear board. Vol II generally in better condition than Vol I, except for damage to page edge (height ~2cm) affecting the margins of the last 1/3 of the book, including the borders of the plates. Occasional very light foxing. Boards with moderate general wear. Photos available on request.. First. Full-Leather. Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
