A superb biography of one of the main players in World War II and in the history of India, and Prince Charle's favorite uncle. Ziegler had the cooperation of Mountbatten's family, but the books is free of fawning and hero worship. Lord Louis Mountbatten left monumental notes, diaries and other documents, to which the author had access, so doubtless this is close to a biography he would have liked, but equally undoubtedly, he would not have been too keen on some of Zieglers observations on certain of his habits and actions on a more personal level. His hidden agenda, at least a portion of it, are here exposed for the first time. . 1st Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
