Book summary

When the Allied defenses line falters, a squadron of very young, inexperienced G.I.s are sent to bolster the forces. For many, it is their first taste of combat, though for some, like Everett "Hack" Hackermeyer, it has disturbing similarities to his life back in the states. The novel, which was filmed in 1967 as THE YOUNG WARRIORS, is loosely based on Matheson's own experiences during World War II.
