Some light toning, else a near fine copy.A striking image of one of Iceland's majestic birds of prey, perched on a stone amid a group of pink wildflowers.John Gould (1804-1881) described The Birds of Great Britain as a return to his old love, and while the work does show many similarities with his previous Birds of Europe, the illustrations here incorporate more nests, eggs, and young.
