Three quarto volume (11 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches). 337, [1]; 365, [1]; 120 pp. Publisher's quarter linen over brownish boards, printed paper spine labels. Original box with printed label. Bookplate on front pastedown. The extra spine labels are still present at the rear of each volume. A very fine copy of this fundamental bibliography. Although this was originally published in a much reduced form in 1914, this edition remains the gold standard. The earlier edition cataloged about one thousand items and this publication presented a further four thousand items. It is the first systematic bibliography of the most important books on California history. A fourth volume (which fills in a few gaps) was published in 1964 but this offering is complete as issued and in the scarce slipcase (strengthened at one joint).
