A relic of Nazi-occupied France in World War II, a lovely, rebind of a then-new copy of the Librairie Hachette soft cover guide to monuments throughout France, with "Offert par le Gouvernement Francais" printed in Germanic lettering on the first free endpaper. Tightly bound in speckled beige-and-brown quarter cloth over marbleized paper-covered boards with red leather patch on spine bearing bright gilt lines and lettering. The original green and white card cover follows the first free endpaper. Edges of text block stippled in blue; slight wear to corners and bottom edges of boards, light toning to endpapers, else fine. A lovely, clean, bright, crisp book. xviii+254 pages including index, lexique archeologique, et tables de planches et matieres; 359 desins et photographies; two fold-out maps. En francais.. Hard Cover. Very Good. 12 cm x 18 cm / 4.5" x 7".
