"This book takes a non application-specific approach to website design, meaning if you have a text editor on your computer, you can follow the exercises and get very real results.

This book is the only publication I have seen that specifically deals with the challenges posed by the various web browsers out there and how to make them all display websites formated using Cascading Stylesheets (CSS) without completely destroying the page as it is displayed.

Mr. Grannell does have a "bone to pick" with the Internet community in that he encourages and urges code compliance in website design and appropriately deprecates browsers that do not follow the open standards for the modern web. He states these objections clearly and concisely in the front of this book and the reader gets to understand the reasons for his issues as the book progresses.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has released a new browser and Firefox, Opera and, perhaps Safari have all been updated since this book's publication in 2005. The basic tenants of the book are very valuable and I would urge the publisher to update it to reflect current technologies."
