"Their story well exemplifies the providential law which evolves good out of evil." An important feature of this work are the delicately engraved plates by Bartlett featuring the architecture, monuments, topography, townscapes and waterways which played an important role in lives of our forefathers, and the eventual establishment of New England. A sampling of plates include Austerfield Church, Scrooby, Standish Chapel and Pew, Boston Church, Town Hall- Boston, Dutch Shipping, Amsterdam, Leyden, Delft, Delft haven, The Mayflower and Speedwell in Dartmouth Harbor, The Mayflower at Cape Cod, Burial Hill, Myles Standish's Spring, Provincetown.
