Book summary

In his fifth book set in a particular version of the future (one not that different from the early 21st century), Jack McDevitt digs deep into the ramifications and possibilities of space travel. McDevitt has acknowledged newspaper coverage of aliens from 1947 as a childhood inspiration for his writing, and much of the story here gets narrated from the perspective of a newspaper man, George McAllister (from DEEPSIX). Other characters, which as Hutch (from OMEGA), also return, keeping fans connected. ODYSSEY was nominated for the 2008 Nebula Award for Best Novel.
