At first, the white mice are able to hide from the cat by standing on a piece of white paper. However, when the cat skulks off for a nap, the mice find three jars of paint--one red, one yellow, and one blue. Each mouse dives into a color and now instead of three white mice they are one red mouse, one yellow mouse, and one blue mouse, each dripping puddles of color onto the white paper. As the red mouse dances in a puddle of yellow paint, he discovers that red, mixed with yellow, makes orange. When the yellow mouse dances in a puddle of blue paint, he discovers that yellow, mixed with blue, makes green. As the blue mouse dances in a puddle of red paint, he discovers that blue, mixed with red, makes purple. Playing in the colors is fun, but will the clever (and now colorful) mice still be able to hide from the cat? Cut-paper collage illustrations accompany the simple text. |
