Book desription: London: Eyre And Spottiswoode, 1934. Bound in the publishers bright red cloth hard boards with gilt title lettering to spine. This is the first impression of the first edition of the autobiography of one of Britains favourite illustrators. The 389 pages are all present and correct with no inscriptions and are tightly bound. Book sits soild and square. Nine colour plates and several black and white plates support the text throughout. Many more illustrations throughout this delightful book. Slight overall signs of wear and handling commensurate with age otherwise a very presentable example of a scarce Cecil Aldin first edition title. Housed in the rare dustwrapper which has some loss mainly to head and heel of spine but is extremely elusive surviving in any condition. Colours remain vivid and bright. Protected in a removable archival booksleeve to preserve its condition. Photographs of the book and the dustwrapper are available on request. Cecil Aldin invented a craft and style of illustration during his life that was to remain his own. His work in this field is considered by many to be unequalled and remains feverishly sought after by collectors.
