Book description: Philadelphia: McCalla & Co., 1924 Very scarce. Designs for 100 houses, twin houses, and bungalows. 31-page advertising section. Borzner was a Philadelphia architect who began to publish a popular series of "Beautiful Homes" national catalogs in 1916 that offered wonderful designs for "moderately priced" residential homes. Since Borzner could not personally supervise construction of these houses throughout the country, he entered into agreements with "associate" architects who agreed to pay him a commission when they used one of his designs. Borzner also charged customers a fee to provide them with the name of an associate in their area. Finally, the actual cost to construct a Borzner home ranged from $20,000 to $65,000, which was not exactly a "moderate" home price during the 1920s. All of this ran Borzner afoul of the AIA's ethical standards, and he was suspended from the organization for several years. Borzner published his ninth (and last) volume of home designs in 1947. Tight binding. Clean pages. Cover has some minor wear and soiling. Unobtrusive handstamp of "Fleck Bros." (a Philadelphia plumbing supply company) on front and rear cover.. Soft Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.
