Book Description

LONDON: EVELEIGH NASH. NEAR FINE WITHOUT D.J.. PUB 1906. FIRST EDITION. HARDCOVER. BLACKWOOD'S FIRST BOOK WITH 31 PAGE CATALOGUE DATED JANUARY 1907 AT THE BACK OF THE TEXT WHICH DOES NOT MENTION THIS BOOK. . A VERY NICE BRIGHT COPY IN ORIGINAL CLOTH WITH GILT SPINE TITLES VERY BRIGHT WITH SOME SLIGHT DAMAGE TO GILT OF A COUPLE OF LETTERS, INTERIOR PAGES VERY CLEAN WITH NO FOXING. A CRACKED REAR BOARD HAS BEEN PROFESSIONALLY REPAIRED WHICH NECESSITATED NEW ENDPAPERS THAT COMPLEMENT THE TEXT BLOCK VERY NICELY. A BEAUTIFUL CLEAN AND TIGHT COPY WITH FRONT COVER AS BRIGHT AND UNWORN AS YOU ARE LIKELY TO FIND OF THIS RARE BOOK. Copies have been noted with "Autumn 1906" and "Jan 1907" catalogues with no priority established by any recognized authority. In "Starlight Man" Ashley maintained that the first printing was 750 copies that sold out quickly and the book was actually released for the 1906-07 holiday gifting season. All noted later impressions/printings are clearly dated and/or marked as such and none have reprised the original decorative binding of the first printing. .

Bookseller Terms of Sale

$6.00 for "Media Mail" and 9.50 for Priority Mail !!!Please be advised that if you use "Media Mail" there is a very good chance that your package will be opened and inspected by the Post Office. A vigorous campaign has been initiated by the PO to ferret out fraudulent use of "media mail" and, of course, the professional bookseller who follows the rules as set forth by the PO, has to suffer as a result. The integrity of our packages and possibly the condition of the purchased book, our relationships with our customers, and the privacy of the transaction are compromised when a package is knifed into. If you do not want the real possibility of the PO tampering with your purchase I would advise using "Priority" mail to avoid this wrongheaded and intrusive practice!!!
