Pp. xii, 307, plus coloured relief map of Palestine and 17 halftone plates, printed on different paper, bound in; 287, plus 15 halftone plates, printed on different paper, bound in one suite at end, and 2 folding coloured lithographed maps loosely inserted in rear pocket, as issued. With illustrations and maps to the text in first volume. Hardcover, original black cloth, spine gilt, one volume with (good) dust-jacket. In fine condition. (Neat old signature to front flyleaf of first volume.) Excellent set, remarkably bright and fresh. First edition. Noted classicist Dr. Henriëtte Boas' copy, with her bookplate pasted onto front paste-down of first volume. The maps are particularly handsome. The largest, Palästina, measures ca. 53 x 40 cm, is printed in numerous colours and has 3 insets. The second, ca. 42 x 42, is a view of the Assyrian and Babylonian kingdoms from 800 until 700 B.C. It is printed in 5 colours. Both maps are crisp, practically unused. .
