People working, cultivating the fields, harvesting, gathering, tending the herds; individually and in groups. There are closer pictures of utensils, cookery, housing. There are several portraits, individual and group, mainly of archetypes, as well as of people socializing. Some of the landscapes are very picturesque; the closer views are clearly intended to be used as studies in anthropology and culture, and to allow clear identification. The excellent drawings often illustrate in minute detail elements shown in the photographic plates, enhancing clarity.
