New York: Doubleday, 1979 SIGNED, dated, and warmly inscribed at the front pastedown, "To My Man Dave, Through All The years - Solid!, Dizzy Gillespie '87", from the collection of Dave Caplan, well known Toronto jazz booking agent and long-time friend of the great trumpeter. Quarter bound in blue cloth over red paper boards, slight wear and fading to spine panel, spine ends slightly compressed, otherwise a strong near fine, tightly bound, pages are clean, unmarked. A very bright, clean example of the dust jacket without the usual sun fading, price clipped, lightly rubbed, head of spine has a touch of wear, two tiny nicks to top edge of rear panel, slight toning to rear flap edges, otherwise a strong near fine, in mylar sleeve. "An oral history of black American music during one of its greatest periods of fire and fun", and no one in the history of jazz had more fun than Diz. Very scarce, signed association copy, in collectible condition, autobiography by one of the great figures in jazz. J1264. Signed by Author. First Edition, First Printing. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
