A lovely copy, profusely illustrated, in dark teal boards with three-colour drawing of a dancing girl on front, and a man, on spine cover; all edges gilt, which is in excellent condition; xiv(2)680 pages plus 16 pages of publisher's ads; frontispiece B&W portrait of Beecher-Stowe in 1850, protected with tissue, plus 106 illustrations, all present; wear and one-quarter-inch tears to spine ends, shallow wear to outside corners, and minor shelf wear on bottom edges of boards; some general soiling to boards and several pale spots on rear board; rear interior hinge has split in paper only; front interior hinge has one-quarter-inch split in paper; paper half split between next two blank pages; paper split and webbing showing at two interior gutters; page 677-8 has a tear - less than 2 inches; there is a very small amount of interior soiling and almost no foxing; no names or other markings..
