An important set of genealogical histories, collected from public records, charters and other writings, many of which are no longer extant. Rarely, if ever, found in matched full leather bindings, most probably re-bound in the mid- to late-nineteenth century. The Peerage of Scotland [marked Volume I and Volume II], 1813, Second (and best) Edition: xii, [2], 759, [1], xiv, [9 plates]; iv, 748, xiii, [8 plates] pages. Originally issued in 1764 in one volume with only 718 pages and 10 plates. The Baronage of Scotland [marked Volume III], 1798: viii, 625 pages (Last page numbered 623, but final three pages numbered incorrectly). Illustrated with engravings of the coats of arms. Size: 9-3/4" wide X 14-1/2" tall.

Three volumes, uniformly bound in full leather, rebacked in matching leather and preserving the original leather covered boards, with gilt lettering and decorations on the spine and the boards stamped in blind with ornate decorations and highlighted in gilt. Board edges and turn-ins decorated in gilt. Light to mild general wear and scuffing to the leather, especially at the spine ends and edges, but no cracks or tears. Corners well worn and bumped. Joints and hinges uncracked. Marbled endpages and faded text-block edges. Internally, the books are generally clean and sturdy, with some light foxing. . Second Edition. Full-Leather. Very Good.
