Book summary

This novel is set in the last days of the Roman Empire, which is governed by the incompetent Emperor Honorius. The plot revolves around the intrigues of Honorius's court, the Vandal general Stilicho and his beautiful wife, the corruption of Roman life, the prostitute Urbanilla, and the mysterious Egyptian who is both victim and hero.
