Fine In 1845 a small group of Lutherans under the leadership of Pasor F.A. Craemer was sent to Michigan to establish a mission colony, which was called Frankenmuth . Because of Craemer's skill at languages he began to communicate with the Chippewa Indians and to spread the word of Lutheranism. Craemer established several missionaries and in 1875 the Concordia Theological Seminary was moved from St. Louis to Springfield. Rev Craemer 's seminary was set up in the former Illinois State University building which nicknamed "die Kaffeemuehle" because of its similarity to a coffee mill. The book chronicles student life and has several interesting photographic illustrations of students playing baseball, eating watermelon etc. |
