Pittsburgh PA: Hunt Botanical Library, 1963 Original dark green marbled boards with parchment spine gilt. This volumn is Number 1 of The Hunt Facsimile Series, edited by George H.M. Lawrence, director of the Hunt Botanical Library at Carnegie Institute of Technology. The 35 plates were reproduced from a copy at the Houghton Library of Harvard University, and the text is from a copy at the Hunt Botanical Library. The preface states that this book was chosen as the first in the series because fewer than 100 are believed to have been issued, and the whereabouts of fewer than 50 are known. The plates are important because of the 35 published, 31 are seen for the first time. For the serious collector of botanical literature, this book is a cornerstone volumn.. Signed By Artist's Colleague. Limited. Paper Covered Boards. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Various. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Facsimile.
