A set of 5 books published for the Parent's Institute that are titled: "HEROES EVERY CHILD SHOULD KNOW", "FOLK TALES EVERY CHILD SHOULD KNOW", "FAMOUS STORIES EVERY CHILD SHOULD KNOW", "PICTURES EVERY CHILD SHOULD KNOW", & "POEMS EVERY CHILD SHOULD KNOW." These books provide a background in myths, legends, etc that are the backbone of Western literature. Burt edited "Poems", Bacon edited "Pictures" & Mabie, the other 3 books. All in bright red cloth covers, slightly bumped at the corners, all with pictorial labels that duplicate the color frontis illustrations (a few of the labels are lightly rubbed). Charming blue-bordered endpapers by MacKinstry have light offsetting; the artists of the color illustrations is not know. Very nice set; unusual to find all of them together. OUT OF PRINT..
