Book summary

When Pearl comes home from school one day, her mother tells her that her grandfather has died. As she and the rest of the family sit shiva (a seven-day ritual of mourning practiced by Jewish people) Pearl tries to think of a special way to remember and honor her beloved grandfather. The book's back matter includes information about the burial and mourning customs of other religions. Color illustrations accompany the text.
