This is the first of two volumes containing the proceedings of the 19th session of the Hague Conference on Private International Law, which was established in 1803 to "work for the progressive unification of the rules of private international law" and currently has 65 nations as members. The volume provides general information such as membership of delegations, minutes of the opening and closing sessions, and the complete text of the final act of the 19th Session. It also contains all the documents associated with the Commissions of May 2000 and April 2002 on General Affairs and Policy of the Conference. These documents relate to the decision to divide the session into two parts; the decision to allow the text of the preliminary draft Convention on jurisdiction, recognition, and enforcement of foreign judgments in civil and commercial matters to mature; and the decision to devote the second part of the 19th session to the examination and final adoption of the Convention of 5 July 2006 on the Law Applicable to Certain Rights in Respect of Securities held with an Intermediary. The draft Convention and the decisions have been published in equivalent English and French texts, but remarks made by delegates during the meetings are rendered in French or English depending on the language employed by the speaker.
