This well-illustrated pamphlet presents a brief history of the beautiful and imposing Bibi Khanum Mosque located in Samarqand, Uzbekistan. Although now partly in ruins, the mosque was built by Timur (Tamerlane) circa 1399-1400 to commemorate his defeat of the Sultanate of Delhi in 1399. Popular tradition also ascribes the construction of the monument to a wife of Timur, Bibi Khanum. There are two plates of miniature paintings and several color photographs with views of the ruined monument under restoration.
