Paris: H. Piazza, 1914. First Edition Thus/Limited Edition. Original Wraps. First few joints tender, gift inscription at ffep (dated 1918), else tight, bright and unmarred. Original glassine DJ. Olive cloth drop spine clamshell case. Original beige wrappers, black ink lettering, gilt, black and white ink decorative elements, frontispiece, printed tissueguards, tipped in color plates, each with a decorative boarder. 4to. [5], 114pp [3]. Illus. (color plates). Limited edition, one of 500 copies. An unusual copy, this edition was in 500 copies, signed by Dulac. However, this copy does not have the limitation/signature page. Imped in all other ways complete and was, most likely, a review copy sent by the publisher to an American museum or art reporter for review. Dulac's illustrations are absolutely exceptional, illustrating one of the stories from ÒArabian NightsÓ. Typically found rebound, as the original wraps were both uninspired and the binding intended to be "temporary", it is very uncommon to find it as here. Appears to be the only available copy in the US. A very handsome copy of this scarce volume.
