While not exactly a scientific method, Williams's experience as a biologist allows her to present her information in an empirical fashion, developing her ideas rationally and bolstering her theories with numerous anecdotes of animal communications that are entirely plausible and make for enjoyable reading. Williams explains that we can communicate with animals because humans are also part of the natural, sentient world and share a primordial connection with animals in mind and spirit. She encourages her readers to respect and love the greater natural world as much as they do their animal companions.
