Book summary

On a road trip from Idaho to Alaska, down-on-her-luck Midwesterner Jessie Arnold encounters a frightened runaway teen, Patrick Cutler, whose evil stepfather, a cop named McMurdock, has accused him of the recent murder of his mother. Soon, Jessie and Patrick, along with Jessie's elderly friend Maxie, are involved in a perilous flight up the Alaska Highway, with Patrick's enemies in hot pursuit.
