B&W Photographs; Spine ends & corners of book cover have extremely light bumping & rubbing. Green cloth covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine and front cover of the book. There is one small white spot to the bottom front corner of the book cover. Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid off-white color. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of light bumping & rubbing. There are several smallish edge tears to the dust jacket , some with some nicking and wrinkling. The spine of the dust jacket has yellowed / toned due to sunning and there is one smallish spot of dirt adhered. There are several extremely small nicks / chips missing (mostly to the top rear of the dust jacket). "Saturday, January 10,1863, was a bleak, cloud-darkened day in the nation's capital.
