Helsinki: Gebers, 1952 First Printing. Bound in the publisher's pictorial boards without dustjacket as issued. Printed in the Swedish language, the author's first language - although Finnish by nationaliity, Jansson was one of the minority Swedish-speaking Finns who account for approximately 5% of that country's population. The true first edition of the book later published in English as The Book About Moomin, Mymble and Little My. The writer and artist's first Moomins picture book. Simply inscribed by by her in ink at the title page, (in Swedish), "With Greetings! Tove Jansson" - hers is one of the genuinely rare literary signatures. An exceptionally rare and collectible book thus, and a crowning jewel for any serious Moomins collection. In remarkably (Very) Good condition with just some minor shelf-wear to the board and page edges.
