Book Description
London: Trubner & Co, 1878. Illustrations are complete. The signature at the bottom of the frontispiece is sometimes advertised as an author signed copy. Subtitled, "Geological, Botanical and Conchological Reports, Plans, Map and 13 wood engravings". Pages xx, 606 with index and appendices. Blackmer sale 1150 which confirms his wife Emily's efforts (she also wrote an introduction) and says this is Beke's most important work. A thick, heavy 8 vo. in the original red cloth, very slightly faded on the spine but protected in a clear, plastic dustjacket. Gilt landscape with palms on the front cover. All edges gilt. Inside, very slight and intermittent foxing on a few pages. Overall, a very nice copy, and an important work on the Sinai. A scarce book.. First Edition.
