In Cold Blood by Capote, Truman
First edition
New York: Random House, 1965. First edition. Near Fine/near fine. A virtually Fine copy (very light edgewear) in a virtually Fine (very light wear to parts of the extremities) of the First Edition, First Issue of this tale of the murder of a wealthy wheat farmer, his wife, and their two young children at their home in rural Holcomb, Kansas, and the subsequent trial and hanging of the murderers. Their two surviving daughters were not at home at the time of the murders. Described by Capote as a "non-fiction novel" the book was an instant classic which has maintained its status as an important work. Fascinated by a November 16, 1959 report of the murders in the New York Times, Capote traveled with his cousin, Harper Lee, to Holcomb to begin his research, and, after years of inquiry, brought forth this masterpiece. A quite nice copy.
