Book desription: New York: Dodd, Mead and Company, 1897. Early Reprint. Very Good. A Very Good copy of the 1897 printing of Dunbar's work first published in 1896. The front hinge is broken (but holding) and the rear hinge has a slight starting and there is light edge wear (which does not go through the cloth) and some fading to the boards. This copy is INSCRIBED AND SIGNED on the front free endpaper by Dunbar as follows: "Very Sincerely Yours. / Paul Laurence Dunbar.". It was the praise of this book by William Dean Howells that led to Dunbar's gaining world wide fame and repute. Inscriptions by Dunbar are quite uncommon.
