Book desription: London: Chapman and Hall, 1882. First edition. Fine. An astonishing copy of this Trollope triple decker in the publisher's original yellow ochre cloth, decorated in black. This is a beautiful, fine, bright copy of a Trollope title generally found quite faded and worn. The covers are virtually spotless (with a small nick in the bottom edge of one cover and a small rub to the face of another). The endpapers are clean and uncracked. The pages are fine as well, with only light foxing to a few of the leaves at the end of each volume. There are no bookplates, signatures or other indicia of ownership. This set was rumored to have belonged to Michael Sadlier, but does not have his, or any other, bookplate. Nevertheless, this is certainly a set that Sadlier would have welcomed into his collection with pleasure. In over 25 years we have not seen another set at all comparable to it.
